Sea Captain's Special

It feels like summer around here (around 90 degrees for the next few days!) which means it's time to get out on the open seas. Unfortunately, we still have a lot of work before the boat is ready for Maine waters. So we decided to make ourselves feel a little more nautical on the mainland instead. After a few of these, you might feel like you have your sea legs!

Sea Captain’s Special  (Adapted from here)

2 oz Rye whiskey
Sugar cube
2-3 dashes of Peychaud’s bitters
1-2 dashes absinthe
Champagne
Orange twist

Place a sugar cube in the glass and drop a few dashes of bitters and a small splash of Champagne on it. Muddle and swirl the glass around to coat the sides. Drop in a couple ice cubes or whiskey stones pour in the whiskey, top with Champagne, and add a dash or two of absinthe on top. Garnish with a orange twist.
